Yesterday morning, I came across an article on Desiring God titled, “Spiritual Growth Is Not An Accident” by Jon Bloom. In it, Jon paints an analogy between spiritual growth and gardening1, arguing that while plants can grow by themselves, effective gardening doesn’t happen without specific efforts by the gardener:
About a month ago, I purchased a new coffee roaster, the Aillio Bullet R1. This roaster uses induction to heat the drum, making it much more energy efficient and one of very few coffee roasters that can handle 1 kg of coffee using a normal residential electrical outlet.
One of my favorite Bible study tools is Blue Letter Bible, a website with access to a wide variety of Bible versions, commentaries, concordances, and dictionaries. It’s pretty much my go-to place when I want to dig deeper into a specific text.
Just this week, I finished reading the second volume of Bodyguard of Lies, an epic historical account by Anthony Cave Brown regarding the “war of deception” waged by the Allies during WW2 to hide the secrets of D-Day from Hitler and Nazi Germany. This out-of-print gem from 1975 is one of the most interesting and fascinating books I have read in a very long time.
Board gaming has been slowing down for me as a hobby, even to the point of selling games from the collection. However, we still have time to play some longer “strategy” games when friends and family members come over. Recently, our game of choice has been Grand Austria Hotel, a new-ish board game that I received as a Christmas gift a few years back.
